Internship in Architecture Program (IAP)
The IAP is a national program administered by all Canadian Architectural Licensing Authorities (CALA) - in Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Association of Architects (NSAA) is the adminstrator of the IAP.
To enroll into the IAP, an applicant must:
Acquire CACB Certification.

Obtain a Mentor.

Complete an Application for Intern Architect Membership.
Pay the fee for the application by cheque or credit card.
Have the application approved by the NSAA.
While enrolled in the IAP, an Intern Architect must complete the following requirements:
Acquire a minimum of 3,720 hours of specified experience in a variety of categories as listed in the IAP Manual, and submit experience records in the form of Canadian Experience Record Books upon the accumulation of 900-1,000 hours of experience (roughly 6 months)
Pass one of the two available options for recognized examinations
- The Examinations for Architects in Canada (ExAC)
- The Architect Registration Examinations (ARE)
